NASSCOM and Everest India have recently launched their Study on the Indian BPO sector, which evaluates the country’s current standing in this sector and its Roadmap until 2012. According to the Report, India is at the forefront of the rapidly evolving Business Process Offshoring (BPO) market, having established itself as a “destination of choice.”

  • Issue No. 75
While much has been said about the immense opportunities opening up before India’s BPO players, not much attention has been paid to the challenges facing these organizations. In this issue, we look at the ways that BPO companies are dealing with the pain points, that could in fact, mar a very positive picture.

  • Issue No. 74
Quality Standards, benchmarking and Best Practices are some the most important differentiators that Indian IT services and BPO companies have been able to adopt to gain an edge in the marketplace. Riding on quality and process excellence, they have achieved customer and employee satisfaction, as well as built the next level of business leadership.

  • Issue No. 73
In recent years, the BPO industry has experienced healthy growth, the rapid development of new vertical and horizontal opportunities, robust M&A activity and geographic expansion by many competitors. As a result of these trends, managers and investors in the BPO sector spend much of their time evaluating three primary strategic options with respect to new capabilities and markets: (a) M&A, (b) Greenfield in a new sector or new geography, or (c) Neither (i.e., stay the current course, continue to focus on existing capabilities and geographies).

  • Issue No. 72
Pricing remains the key element of any BPO engagement. The Indian BPO industry achieved its first round of success based on its low-cost advantage. Over the years, however, this edge was supplemented with other, more crucial benefits such as scale, process and domain expertise and a rapidly expanding brand and customer base.

  • Issue No. 71
The growing maturity of India’s outsourcing industry has meant that increasingly, Indian service providers are looking for new and emerging opportunity areas where they can position themselves. One such market, which is now appearing on the horizons of both global customers as well as Indian ITES-BPO players is Procurement Outsourcing (PO).

  • Issue No. 70
That the Indian ITES-BPO industry has achieved a certain level of maturity and momentum, was apparent at the recently concluded NASSCOM ITES-BPO Summit 2007, which provided a fresh perspective on the rapid growth market and the contribution it will make to the country’s economic growth going forward.

  • Issue No. 69
From ITES-BPO industry CEOs, to leading customers from myriad verticals, to analysts, to academia to policy makers—NASSCOM’s Annual Summit, dedicated to the concerns of this sector has something for everyone.

  • Issue No. 68
Recognizing the fact that India can only hope to move up the value chain within the BPO market by building domain specializations and relevant verticals-specific talent, one of country’s ITES-BPO leader, WNS Global Services, has launched a market leading initiative.

  • Issue No. 67
NASSCOM’s National Skills Registry (NSR), a major initiative to provide a national database of personal, academic and employment details of IT-ITES professionals, is gaining support from the IT-BPO industry.
